2004-06-30: Jose's Royal Enfield runs now
As reported earlier, Jose bought a Royal Enfield Bullet 500 from his Indian trip this spring. The bike finally arrived on June 24th from Germany.
After a considerable hassle with Finnish customs where nobody seems to know who does what and how to handle such imports, the bike was finally brought out of Kaukokiito's truck terminal and assembled on Tuesday. Big thanks to Wille for all the help!
We had to buy a new battery before the bike managed to start, but today Bergie rode the bike to Jose's place.
Only major thing missing is attaching the right-hand footpeg which seems to require removing the exhaust pipe. After that we can try to get the bike registered in Finland.
Updated 2004-07-01: Jose sent SMS this morning that the bike now has temporary registration plates, and the inspections must be started by July 7th.
Updated 2004-07-19: Jose reported that the car tax decision had come: 1000 EUR.
